This old style
Victorian bungalow home in Footscray needed to cut down on lawn for
maintenance reasons, as well as to provide a usable outdoor area.
The lawn there had died with the weather and the paving was
unasable as an entertaining area
A plan was drawn up showing
the works, so that the client and contractor were on the same page
for the project.
Firstly the area was
excavated for the new works to start
A 100mm thick concrete slab
was laid as a solid foundation in area with highly reactive clay. A
deeper footing was also laid along the edges to lay a small brick
wall using 2nd hand red bricks to suit the character of the
house
Seconds hand Red bricks
were also used as the border course for the paving. Random
bluestone pieces were laid in the main body of paving to provide a
contemporary looking area, that is also within character of the
house and style.
After completion the paving
was grouted (bricks with white, bluestone with charcoal colour) and
the whole lot sealed to ensure a long lasting surface.
The drainage
pit takes any surface water away after rain. Lighting was also
installed for mood lighting at night

Testimonial-
"Planned Landscapes
recently completed a job in our backyard.
My wife and I were extremely impressed with not only the quality
of
the workmanship, but the creativity that Rod showed in the design
of
what was a difficult job.
We now have a beautiful "outdoor room " in what was once a
wasteland
thanks to Rod and his team.
I have no hesitation in recommending Planned Landscapes as
a
competent , creative and quality landscaper and paver.
Yours Sincerely,
Peter Borghouts
West Footscray"
