This
Camberwell unit being a small residence had not much room for
outdoor use. The room that it did have, was overgrown and in dire
need of some work to make it usable for a young family.
Before shots of the
area
The first step
was to clean the whole area and start from scratch. The old pavers
were ripped up, trees removed and the old brick wall was torn down
to enlarge the size of the yard. The wall did provide privacy, but
was set 3m inside the boundary line which accounts for a lot of
usable room
The cleaned yard. The yard
will be brought foreward towards the path top create more
room
A bew brick wall was
constructed along the boundary to become the new edge of the front
yard so it could be extended out the 3m. This wall will retain the
slope, as well as provide a base for the new screening
fence
The wall could then be
backfilled after drainage had been installed and the base prepared
for the paving area
A concrete base was laid as a
solid foundation for the paving. This ensures no movement, thus no
pavers will move either.
Teakwood honed
sanstdtone was used for the main body of paving, with a crazy paved
section of bluestone laid in the middle to break up the expanse of
sandstone
After paving completion, the
whole area was grouted and sealed ensuring a long lasting pavement.
Screen trees of Waterhousia were planted along the fence
that will give privacy to the occupants from the street
A merbau screen was
installed on top of the brick wall to provide privacy and an
effective screen from the road
