Macleod 1
A new household in Springthorpe Estate
Macleod required the finishing of a landscaping project, with a low
maintenance, pet-friendly environment. The front yard needed some
character and the rear yard needed some privacy and
practicality.
An unfinished decking was
removed and area cleaned up for the new project. It was decided to
pave the decking area for a lower entertaining area with less
maintenance
The front area needed a
feature to complement the house, to suit both the building style
and the surrounding bushland environment.
The front garden was
revamped to create a bushy feel, with drought tolerant yet showy
plant species around large boulders
Stone Age 500 x 500 pavers
were laid down in the entertaining area and as stepstones in the
path areas leading to and from the front and rear of the house.
Careful plant selection was undertaken to ensure low maintenance
yet creating a good look for the backyard. Liriopes provide a
border to the paving, and native Callistemon provide a dense screen
that will also attract native birdlife that frequentSpringthorpe.
The main section of the
paving area was bordered by a block retaining wall, with tall
conifers to both screen the area and provide a visual backdrop for
the paving.
Path leading to the front
gate. Sir Walter Buffalo instant lawn was used, being the most
drought tolerant of the turf;s available.
An automatic irrigation timer
system was connected to water the lawns and gardens off a 5000Lt
rainwater tank also installed.
A feature garden bed was
put in the front lawn area to highlight the house. Large boulders
were placed, with a weeping Japanese Maple planted and a mixture of
pine mulch and river rocks to add to the bushy feel of the
garden. Garden lighting was installed to
enhance and bring to life the landscape at night. Low voltage
lights were used in garden s and solar lights used along the
driveway.
