Heidelberg
This landscaping project in Heidelberg was
at a unit that was in need of more car parking space and a more
maintenance free garden. In these times lawns can be reduced to
make it easier to look after while still leaving an attractive look
to the garden.
The front garden was full of overgrown
shrubs and trees, some of which were very close to pipes. Old lawn
and sleepers were very aged and made the garden look messy. The
whole site was cleared and leveled to form a single slope down the
yard.
A concrete base was poured for the paving in
the driveway area to support the pavers over a long period of time.
A path allowed access to the rear yard from the driveway. Here clay
pavers were used, red in the body with a cream border to add
definition to the sides.
Grass areas were eliminated, and river rocks
were spread over the area with a weedmat underneath to discourage
weed growth. A central small garden feature was installed to break
up the area. Pebble garden beds with hardy
shrubs were put along the sides to provide screening as they
grow.
The paved path led to another paving area at
the rear of the house as an entertaining area
