Will Native Plants Look Good in My Garden

Will Native Plants Look Good in My Garden?

Of course they will! Native Australian plants have long had a reputation of being bland and boring, but yet there are a huge variety of wonderful plants to choose from.

There are plenty of ground cover, shrubs, trees and grasses that have always had their place in a visually pleasing garden. Over the years these commonly-used species plus other less-attractive species have been grown and cross pollinated to form more colourful or striking specimens. We now have a great range of native plants that look as good as any other plant that could go into your garden.

The difference with natives, however, is that by using them you already have a head start. Many exotic species need special attention, more frequent fertilising due to our poor soils, and more water. Natives, being indigenous to here, can survive with only a fraction of the care. They still need their watering and fertiliser, but nowhere near as much as exotic plants

Most natives also attract native birds and grasses around water features can attract frogs. They can be perfect in the right application.
