MOVING WITH THE TIMES

The last few years has seen a slight change in landscapes. The last few years especially has made people more aware of the need for drought tolerant gardens.  Using natives has always been a good practice, but increasing water restrictions has made it virtually a necessity.

There are a number of ways to move your landscape along with the times.

Increasing Paving Areas: Areas previously used up with plants or lawn which are harder to keep moist these days can be reduced in size and areas of usable pavement areas can be implemented. These can be used for entertaining, access, as a  feature or simply to reduce maintenance. paving.jpg

Creating Natural Looking Areas: You can enhance and provide a visually pleasing area of your garden to look at by making an area natural-looking in appearance. Such examples could include creating a dry river bed with river pebbles, a large pebble area with boulder outcrops, or replicating another form of natural landscape. Many gardens of today are using such ideas in common gardens to lessen the areas in need of watering.

Planting Water-Wise Plants: This isn’t a new concept, and should really be a key factor in any garden design. Plants must suit the area they are growing in. It's just that the drought conditions of the last few years has highlighted this fact even more. Using Australian natives indigenous to this area is the best option considering they have adapted to this climate and conditions, but obviously there are also plenty of other exotic and native species to use. Planned Landscape Constructions is happy to advise on what plants are suitable.
There are plenty of plants available now that have been cultivated to get better flowering, different colours, and various sizes to suit all tastes.

Installing Water Tanks: We can install water tanks onto your property, which can allow you to continually water your garden, as long as your tank is holding water. It is important where possible to install the biggest tank that can fit as you can never have too much water. During establishment of gardens and larger turf areas in hot periods, watering in can use up to 5000Lt per week! Pays to get as much water as possible.
The tanks can be hooked up to an automatic irrigation system so it can water your yard while you are away or doing other things.

Moving With Design Trends: We can help to employ latest design ideas, plants and materials to make your garden stand out. From contemporary designs with colourful rendered walls backed by striking Cordylines and Yucca's, to Japanese-influenced gardens, to using traditionally native plants to use within other design ideas. If you want your garden to be a real showpiece, let us know.
