This new home was in need of
landscaping to finish off the property. The house was complete, all
that was left was to match a landscape design to the theme of the
house. The front facade seemed to have
a "mountain retreat" feel to it, therefore a design theme with this
in mind was implemented.
The backyard did not need the same
theme as the front, but needed a practical element to it; an area
for kids to play around, an area for play equipment, and access to
other areas around the house and a clothesline area.
The rear backyard was scraped off and
shaped by machine, before a base was laid and a paving
area installed.
Step stones were installed on a road
base while edging was put down to separate garden and gravel
areas.
Gravel was installed in between pavers,
mulch put thickly onto garden areas and plants put in to finish off
the rear yard. Irrigation was also installed for a thorough
watering to both garden and lawn areas.
Buffalo turf was laid to provide a drought resistant hardy lawn
surface
The front yard was also scraped and
shaped up by machine, before a foundation was laid for the
coldstream rock garden feature to be constructed.
An Irrigation system was installed, before
garden edging was put in to retain the organic topsoil put into
garden areas. These were covered with a weed matting (where the
river rocks wouldn't keep weeds at bay as much as mulch) before a
mix of sizes of river rocks/pebbles applied to suit the theme of
the design. A mixture of coniferous plants was selected to further
enhance the theme (along with a few chosen feature plants) and
instant turf laid to finish the front area off
